Sofia Coppola's 2006 film is adapted directly from Antonia Fraser's biography (the audiobook and ebook in this library), with Kirsten Dunst as the queen. It was shot on location at the Palace of Versailles, so much of what fills the screen is exactly what we'll walk through on Day 3.
The style is deliberately modern, a young-queen's-eye view with a pop soundtrack rather than a stuffy costume drama, but the arc is faithful to Fraser's book: a teenage Austrian archduchess married into a court that distrusted her, the isolation and excess of Versailles, and the slow slide toward revolution.
