Jesuit Church (Jesuitenkirche)

A deliberate Catholic statement. Lucerne stayed Catholic during the Swiss Reformation and led the Catholic cantons against Zwingli's reformers in Zurich.
Plain twin-towered exterior, astonishing rococo inside โ pale pink stucco, gilt, and a vaulted ceiling that reads like a wedding cake. Five minutes from the Chapel Bridge, often empty, and a quick stop on any old town walk. Frequent free lunchtime organ recitals in summer; check the noticeboard at the door.
