About 70,000 mΒ² of fortified castle district β€” Guinness rates it the world's largest by area. St. Vitus Cathedral inside took 585 years to finish (1344-1929).

A 9th-century complex of palaces, churches, and gardens, perched above the Vltava river. The Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral (housing the Bohemian crown jewels) is the centerpiece β€” its stained glass alone is worth the visit.

Tram #22 stops near the upper entrance, making the visit much easier on the legs than climbing from the river.

Changing of the Guard at the main gate happens hourly, with the larger ceremony at noon.
